I sat in a Brera, adjusted the seat for my driving position and realised that even my 2 1/2 yr old would fit in the back.
. Yeah, the issue with the Brera is that it loses any practicality the 159 has, yet it doesn't really live up to any kind of 'sporty' image, ie. over-weight, handling, performance...
Funnily, the MiTo is actually the only one in the range which I could seriously consider at the moment.
I went to the launch of the MiTo in Berlin but it is not special, in my opinion.
Dare I mention something german probably - it will almost certainly be a diesel as well.
Phaeton 5 litre V10 diesel? Was examining one just today, which had parked behind me. The interior is really stunning. Beautifully finished. Totally different league to the 166, it has to be said. The 5 litre diesel has phenomenal performance, too. Of course, there's also a 3 litre diesel version...
Options were SRT-8 300C, CLS (but quattroporte would take preference and are similar price range), E-320/350, Jag XJ, XK, Brera (1st choice)
The CLS and XJ would be my preferences there. Brera issues as above. XK would also be no good for four. 300C is dreadful, if you've ever actually driven one or had a look inside! E-Class is solid and reliable but dull.
the 300c is an interesting choice - far more character than the mercs...
Niall, please! They're nails
. Bl**dy awful to drive and way out of date under the skin. In fact, a typical Yank barge when I come to think of it! If you examine a CLS, you'll find it has a lot more character and class.
Good luck finding something interesting, Howard. Sounds like you're looking for similar criteria to me. I've narrowed my choices down to a Jaguar XJR (Alu), Citroen C6 Exclusive or VW Phaeton V10/W12. The only BMW I've thought about is a 6 series but, even if you like the styling, the rear seats are not of much use. If I had the cash, a Mercedes CLS or CL would be superb...
