Have no experience of the 3 litre super, but my contribution....
1. The ticking noise you describe is peculiar. The fact that it doesnt change with revs makes me wonder, like you said, if its a pulley, but not related to the drive? Maybe something to do with climate control or something??
2. The heavy clutch wouldn't concern me. My own car which is a 2.0 Twin has a VERY VERY heavy clutch and even though I bought it with about 90k on it, there is now almost 115k and its still working fine. If you search this section, you will see that a lot of the 166's seem to have heavy clutches, without any problems. However, the low biting point would make me wonder. As Mechman says, it should be hydraulic as far as I know, and should be self adjusting, so its possibly coming close to renewal time. Again, its not a huge issue, but something to keep in mind.
3. The silencer is quite pricy for the 3 litre. Havent shopped around, but saw prices mentioned here before, and a very quick search shows me that Alfaworkshop are charging £263 for it.
4. Dash bulbs - Not a big issue at all. Think you open 2 screws on underside of steering wheel cowl and then 2 on underside of dash and slip out the gauges and unplug the connectors and change whatever bulbs need doing
Finally, although it's had 4 owners, the fact that the last service cost £1100 would make me think that the last owner spent money on it for anything that needed doing and would assume that he looked after it equally well through his ownership
Hope this helps you make a decision and we can eventually add another member to our section here
