Its another one of those "Were they fitted at the factory as standard or fitted because they had no black ones at the time? " I would be interested to know because the bloke I bought my 166 off kept every single receipt for his 166 and there is no evidence he fitted them himself. Anyone else got these on their 166?
They do go well with the rest of the chrome inside the car though:thumbs:
Hi Stu, im not worried about the door pins I just find it amazing that 166's of the same model are slightly different, almost hand built if you know what i mean and not built by a machine or robot!
Thats my prized micro-fibre cloth, it gets rid of every known bit of grease and grime known to man:lol: Black border surrounds on the high seat belt adjustment! The plot thickens................!
Oh I see, the black ones are from the 156! Swapping and changing all the time. Always trying to improve. The 166 looks better with the chrome, but the black are nice.
bought some myself, look OK, there are chrome and alloy, I think I prefer chrome, did not realize and got alloy. Look OK though, 5 min job to swap, just unscrew.
I to must confess that I have bought these chrome door pins. Wasn't sure if I liked them.
However I do suffer from "Did I lock the car?" Syndrome (and to be fair sometimes I haven't) So I found that I can see the chrome door pins from my window. So the chrome ones are staying!
I must search out the picture I took when I got pomeo back from the Main Dealer as it took me so long to fix the NSF door lock that I couldn't even open the door..Had a blooming good attempt though and when I got her back they had used a bic pen as I had all the bits that I had taken off in the secret compartment on the top of the dashboard...Guess they never looked there.
So Stu a4 old bic pens and some silver sellotape...Hey presto.
Pomeo
My F/L has chrome door pins. I bought it ex-demo so I'm guessing that this was standard factory fit? Maybe it's linked to the interior colour - mine is the all beige (incl. dash) option, perhaps the darker cars had black pins?
One of the last 166's I saw in my local dealership had chrome doorpins. I had the feeling they were plasticky chrome though. The ones on eBay are aluminium (or at least the ones I bought for the 164 were).
and yes, if my engine sounded like that, I would want others to hear it as well
could not see what colour the door pins were though
