Re: 166 Super for less than a grand!
Yeah, that 166 has been on my radar for a couple of weeks. Was initially listed on eBay for about £1490 without photos.
It doesn't say how much tax or MoT on it, and 'sold as seen' hardly inspires confidence.
Then it with the photos it suddenly became £1995, or thereabouts. It increased anyway.
Then, I think it went down to the original listed price of about £1490, and now £999.
I am sorry, but the leather really gets me going. Those cloth seats don't give me the same sense of occasion.
I've resisted calling that dealer so far. A job agency is trying to get me a job 25 miles away, and if I get that job, it'll be something small and economical that I can squeeze a motorbike in behind in the garage.
If I need to do a 50 or 90 miles a day commuting I'd need something doing 50-60 mpg not something that struggles to hit 30mpg. It may be a nice car, but I'd just resent giving the Treasury £1000-£2000 a year more than I need to in petrol costs.
I'd rather that money went on me really.
Plus the advert for the job 25 miles away said something about having 'reliable transport' as it's in the middle of nowhere. Trying to figure out which single track lane to take to get there had a nice blue tractor in an adjoining field on Google Earth.
I thought that colour was more attractive than it shows in those photos. Looks like stale urine yellow to me.
I am more taken with the C4 Audi A6 Quattro they have, but it's a 173bhp one, not one of the last 5V per cylinder 195bhp V6s. Not sure 4WD frictional losses good for the fuel bill on the commute either, but may come in handy on the single track lanes come winter.
I am more upset about that GTV V6 that some garage in Thatcham, Newbury had last week. I was wondering if it was an ex Black and White car as just down the road from them. It was metallic grey, red Momo leather R-Reg, possibly one of the the first batch of 116, 67K miles, said had service history and had cambelt change. It was priced at £2295.
I was sorely tempted, but sods law says I'll have no longer got it home and I'll have landed that job with the 50 mile a day commute.
