Just an informative post, but I suppose if anyone can help with some of my problems, then it'd be nice.
The list of things to fix on my car are as follows;
Fog lights - the units have been removed, but the glass remains. I have new units to fit but when I tried plugging them in, neither worked. The relay clicked, but nothing happened. I suspect a wiring loom has been disconnected.
Wing Mirrors - they've been bashed at some point and glued back together. At the same time, someone has decided to paint the bottom half of them black (badly) and it looks awful. I need some silver ones to replace them, or any colour in decent nick because I don't mind respraying the covers. I refuse to pay the £50 or more each side that they go for on Ebay!
ABS/ASR - an ABS sensor has duffed up somewhere meaning I have no ABS or ASR at the moment. It'll be going in to Turin Motors to get this sorted as I don't know which one it is and I don't want to change them all myself!
Nearside headlight levelling - the locating screw inside the N/S headlight has sheared or come away from it's mounting, meaning there is no levelling. Xenons as well, so it's a bit more complicated. Currently works fine and it should pass the MOT in Oct at the current static level, but who knows!
MPG - even after changing the MAF and
the lambda, I'm still getting poor MPG and the car is still overfuelling (I know because it splutters when starting in the morning after a drive in which it gets warm). Next thing to change as far as this goes is the rubber hose between resonator and throttle body.
Key - I have just one key. Another one has been bought on Ebay, but I need a suitable blade cutting and then it needs to be programmed. Turin Motors can do this when it goes in for the MOT and ABS thing.
Bodywork - There are a few bits that need tidying up (surface rust behind wheels where stonechips have chipped paint away) and there was a gatepost incident a few weeks ago which is going to mean the front bumper being resprayed. £160 for the bumper respray and £70/side for the sills to be redone. I'll have to start saving up for this...
Windscreen - it has quite a big chip in it. It's been filled at one point and it won't fail the MOT as it's on the wrong side, but I'd like to not have it there at all. £70 is my insurance excess for glass...
Clutch pedal squeak - I know there's a fix for this somewhere on AO, I just need to find it and perform it!
Gear stick lateral movement is stiff - I think I read on here that the cause of this is the linkage bushes drying up, I just need to get the water header tank off and get some white grease on them one weekend.
Rear O/S handbrake cable - it's not free enough to allow the caliper to return when the handbrake is released. Currently I'm leaving the car in gear when I park. Again, a job for Turin Motors when it's with them.
Locking motors - drivers door and both rear doors need changing. Turin Motors can do that when they do the rest, because they also need to fix the...
Rear O/S window - it goes down gingerly, but tilts and gets completely stuck when it tries to come back up. I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the runners.
Steering wheel alignment - I had the wheels tracked not so long ago and the steering wheel isn't straight. There's a year guarantee on the work though, so I'll take it back and have it redone when I get a chance.
Cruise Control - resets itself when indicating left and sometimes right. The steering wheel needs to come off (again) and I need to check the connections on the stalk.
Gear knob - since I used to have the wood interior and have changed it (including steering wheel) to silver/leather, I need to find a suitable gearknob. Ideally I want a MOMO F16 leather, but they're £50 and since I have all that stuff above to do first, then it can wait!
I suppose when I do the above jobs, I'll cross them off this list with details of what was done to rectify them. In the mean time, feel free to comment and suggest ideas to help me out.
