166 CD autochanger

Hi Folks,

The autochanger on my CD (that box in the boot) has died - is it possible to get repairs, or reconditioned, or replacement new ones?

However, it's not all gloomy as the cassette machine still works; so I can still listen to my stretched Beach Boys tape!

Many thanks,

Re: 166 CD autochanger

You could repair it. I've no idea how much that will cost. You could look for one from a breakers (anywhere from £50-£150!) Or you could get one of these. they seem to come recommended.

Re: 166 CD autochanger

to be honest its' not worth the hassell repairing it,they used to
make a lot of money on Ebay, but not any more,I saw a brand new
boxed one go for a bargain 92.00 not so long ago,I picked up a
perfect one s/hand for 90.00 just prior to that ,fitted it had no probs. since!

Re: 166 CD autochanger

I've tried to get mine repaired but they want the car for a full day as they don't seem to be able to service it without. I've been through Alfa's customer service and they're no more help. This doesn't give me enough faith to start at garage labour rates.
I've bought a loudlink, it's a bit erratic in operation but it's ok.
The only problems with my CD is that the cassette doesn't eject, it plays perfectly. Now I can't get my 6 CDs out, I've taken the cover off but it's fearsomely complicated!
I've also contacted Becker, they recommended two specialists (Birmingham and Hartlepool). I contacted the latter when I was in the North East recently but they didn't want to know.
