Does anyone experience like I do the Guantanamo Bay treatment every time they close the door of the 166?

These static shocks are getting worse

I honestly don't dress in polyester - is it the shiny metal handles making things worse. Is it my DNA?

Has anyone got a cure, apart from those horrible rubber things you use to see hanging from the back of cars in the 70's?

Re: Static

My wife has just informed me that she doesn't get shocks at all!! And she drives the car more than me. So, it must be me then - time to replace the A-Team underpants I guess.

Re: Static

I used to get it alot on my 166. No idea why though. I got into the habit of closing the door by pushing on the glass!!

Re: Static

I usually hold the top of the door as I get out, that way I don't get a shock. Although my car has leather seats and the problem isn't as bad as with cloth or velor.

Re: Static

166 doesn`t do it at all. Audi A4 I owned before gave me a shock every time I touchd the handle. Almost forgotten now, but this thread made me realise that it`s another thing to be happy about my 166. (I need a lot of such things to justify keeping it at the times when I am close to double what she`s worth every time I fill her up )

Re: Static

Now that you mention it: My previous Ford Mondeo shocked me from time to time, depending on air humidity, clothing etc. Since I drive my 166 no trouble at all. Main difference: The Ford had normal upholstery, the 166 leather.
