Air Conditioning Problem Alfa 166
Hi, I had been getting the 'Air Conditioning Faulty, please contact your dealer message' intermittently on my 1999 Alfa 166. Then it became consistent: It would always come on when first starting the car. After driving a while, if I restarted the car once or twice, it would disappear and the aircon would work normally. I took the car to one dealer, who changed the pollen filter and apparently reset the ICU. They said it was fixed. First time I started the car to take it away, it was working. In the morning, it was back to its old tricks.
I took the car to another dealer, armed with the information from this forum, of checking the wiring of the air distribution flap motor. They discovered a relay that was getting hot, and redid the wiring as per the forum, and things seem to be working: at least we are not getting the error message. But, there seems to be a problem with the temperature control, we can only get hot air through. It's winter here now, so no real problem, but anyone got any advice? They could replace the air mixing motor, but don't have one at the moment. I am tempted just to get the car put back together and deal with it in the summer.
