The change from 166 to 156...
I had set my heart on a 156 ti and found one eventually in Surrey.
The day before collection the dealer phoned to say there was a problem. Buckled alloy, drive shaft not in stock etc. etc.
A change of plan saw me go for a 156 2.4 jtd., from Veloces in London.
The car is red with black leather, xenons, headlight wash, reverse sensors, the list is pretty extensive for a 156. Above all it is the best looking 156 wagon I have ever seen (also one of the most expensive).
I have driven the car home and have my first impressions of it.
Much more powerful than I ever thought it would be.
The car handles superbly.
Very comfortable seats, I would say as good as 166 if not better.
An indicated 50.3 mpg on the way home.
Brakes feel a touch wooden.
Not as special inside as 166 (obviously a cheaper list price)
No sat nav made me hate the car initially when I got lost in London.
On balance if it had not been for the road tax issue and massive depreciation that must follow on an older car I would have had another 166.
I will really, really miss her but hope the wagon will go some way to compensate.
