So, its a series one with two distributors. Have you checked the distributor caps for cracks, or whether the rotor arms are jiggered, or the carbon at the top of the Dizzy caps worn out.
Are you getting sparks. It might be fuel, but unlikely. It could be the dizzies or it could be the ignition switch which can play up with age. Is the battery in good condition, sometimes if its using all the juice to crank, there is not enough left to power the electronic ignition.
Did this happen suddenly or has it got harder to start over time. In fact, does it start at all, as your post is rather short on detail. When you put the ignition on, does the idle actuator hum gently (its onthe back of the inlet plenum at the back of the engine..put your hand on it to check, it should be vibrating slightly)
What have you tried so far? If you are in Brighton, you are not far from Rusper garage, who can probably sort you out if all else fails.
