Re: I Give Up ! .. How do you remove the Radiator on a 164 Super 24V
On my 1994 model the last section on my bottom hose onto the radiator is Rubber the metal section only runs at low level parallel with the radiator and then it changes back to a rubber section near the gear box where you can disconect that section to allow the radiator to be removed once you do the following first.
1/ You have to detach the two relay boxes off the front metal black cross section as you look into the engine bay just in front of the air filter and to the left hand side of the head light unit on the right hand side of the car leave them connected just peel them forward do not touch the hood release cable.
2/ The black metal section on my car across the top of the radiator remove the four fixings bolts 2 each side I think they are 6mm bolts when you lift this plate away there are from memory quite a few cables under there some from the sending unit on the radiator to one of the relay boxes for the fans there are two black brackets that are on my car that space off the AC Radiator from the Water Radiator these have to be removed you can then remove the fan unit it is quite clear the bolts to remove for the fan housing once the top plate is removed the connections onto the fans just un plug and remove.
3/You will then see the fixing points for the Radiator there are two at the bottom that can be a pig to get to and get off give them a good squirt of Wd 40 before trying to remove the bolts you will have to jack the car up to get to the bottom bolts. The top ones are accessible from the top.
Then you should be able to remove the Radiator once these bolts are removed.
This is from memory so if I miss a bit I am sure if you are mechanicially minded the bits I may have missed will be self evident as you strip it down to allow you to remove the radiator.
