My 2003 3ltr tronic has got to go as I need an estate.
I am thinking of a part ex against a 159.
Assuming I spend around 15k on the new motor what is my 166 worth?
It has full AR service history, 49k, cream leather, sat nav, xenons, cd multichanger and also the increased road fund licence next year GRRR.
The car really is in superb nick but I have a feeling I am gonna be insulted.

If you part ex. at a decent Alfa dealer/specialist you will probably get a good
part ex,because they understand 166 prices and tend to disregard the
book, that is my experience at JCS Kegworth anyway.
As for value it is really tricky, someone like Veloces would probably
retail the car at say £7k.
I remember when you bought the car, funny enough I got rid of my 53 plate
Super last october, traded it in for a 166 ti.
I think the downside of your car is that it is a Sportronic, the manuals
tend to be more desirable, but you have a lovely colour combination.
I suppose realistically you should be looking at £5.5k the way the
market is at present.

I agree with Vivian166 the trade in value from an independent dealer works out higher in most cases, prior to a suspension rebuild I looked at a £15.9k 159 at Veloces and they didn't hesitate in offering me £3k I had a value of £1.5k in my mind, its the same model as yours just a Nov 2000 model so avoids the increased road tax phew! not that it will stop me driving a V6 no way! So value something you need to think about as a main dealer may not give you as much, but what do you want back from the car? the way i calculated it was bought car 2002 £12,250! have run it 5.5 years and owe nothing and in fact based on a car allowance she's made me money hence my low value, if i get a £1k in 2 or 3 years when i change her I will be happy it will cover the suspension rebuild - J! your 166 sounds like a really clean car the auto function is attractive to a lot of buyers sure you will get a good trade in! What did she cost you and when did you buy new in 2003? If you can travel Veloces have some good stock and as i said will offer a realistic price I also spoke to a main dealer in Nottingham they were ARUK Used car dealer of the year and had good stock / prices didn't get a trade in value though worth a try and any other independents in your area. Good luck let us know how you get on.

Had the car almost 12 months now. At the time decent low mileage 166's were scarce, hence the reason I travelled from my home in Yorkshire to Southampton.
The car was up at 9k but I haggled hard but still probably paid too much.
I had the belts and tensioners done and if I say so myself its a damn fine car and really turned me onto the Alfa marque.
I do however need an estate and fear this bloody government will be shafting me again with another stealth tax.
Dews my nearest dealer said all the right things about accepting it as a part ex and said they would put it on their forecourt but as the weather was bad I didn't have the car with me. They wouldn't offer me a price without seeing the car and did not have a used wagon in stock.

Agree with above - Specialist is your best bet but try around.

I traded my 04/2003 166 3.0 Super in for my current 06/2004 166 3.2 Ti last month - The 3.2 (82k miles) was £8k, I got £4.5k for the 3.0 (100k miles). I was happy with deal - I think a dealer would have offered me £3k if I was lucky!

Cheers mate - Not happy about tax but will put it off until 02/2010 by chucking a year on it 02/2009 before increase. 3.2 from North Wales (was Cheif fire officers motor) but now on a private plate.

Amesh might inetrest you high mileage but had a lot spent on it
2000 ALFA ROMEO 166 SUPER V6 24V BLACK on eBay, also, Alfa Romeo, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Mar-08 15:59:15 BST)
Seems top dollar, a super with less miles went for £1200 yesterday, no leather, but otherwise identical.
