Are 166 radiators different?

Hi all,

Some eejit ran me of a country road the other day and I ended up busting the front bumper & radiator. Luckily I managed to source them from a breakers. My car is 01 and the new rad is from a 99 model, the mechanic said the newer one is slightly thicker but all fittings are same.

The mechanic also mention the aircon rad is busted, Ive sourced one from a 3 ltr V6 can anyone tell me if its different to the aircon rads used on a 2 ltr twin spark?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Are 166 radiators different?

if you are lucky, then maybe, I have found four different aircon rads on the parts disc, one is common to a 2.0 and a 3.0, thats is No 60630547, however there are variations on the system, to do with a drier and filter etc which seems to be more of an issue than the engine size.

You may get lucky, but seems unlikely.

Re: Are 166 radiators different?

I think that there is a chance that aircon radioator might fit into Your's 01 2.0 166. According to catalogue You should use:
60630547 - which was mounted in:
M1, M2
M10, M15, M16
M11 M17 M18 ARA A37 AIL

Reference for engine number:
M1 2000 T.S. 16V
M2 2000 T.S. 16V CF3
M10 2500 V6 24V
M15 3000 V6 24V
M16 3000 V6 24V BRA C.A.
M11 2500 V6 24V CF3
M17 3000 V6 24V CF3
M18 3000 V6 24V CF3 BRA C.A.

However there were some differences if car was equiped with automatic transmision. For example on 98 2.5 and 3.0 part number would be: 60813976 or 60813976 (2003 replacement).

To make sure if it the one You found would fit, check part number and replacement part number by Your, and the cars from which part comes from VIN number in EPER Picture of the Week
