Hmmm 166 V6 non start in cold weather

Hi all,

My 1999 166 2.5V6 is not firing up on cold mornings. The Engine turns but does not fire up. What I have noticed is when I switch the ignition on the red injector light stays on. This only happens early in the morning and the temperature is below 5 degrees C. When I come back around lunch time(outside temp around 9 degrees C.) and turn the ignition on, the red injector light goes out. The car starts fine.
The battery is fine(I put a new one in at the Weekend). This has been happening frequently now for the last 2 weeks but only occurs on a very cold morning, then starts when the temperature rises a few hours later.
Has this happened to anyone else on the Forum, would appreciate any feedback.

Could be something like camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position sensor.

Re: 166 V6 non start in cold weather

Is this easily checked ? I am not technically minded, so how would I know if it was what you say was the problem as I have the same problem with mine. It's never not started, but on cold mornings it can take up to 6 or 7 turns for it to fire, and then seems to be OK for the rest of the day. My plugs are the long lfe ones and were changed approx 30K miles ago.
