alfa 166

I have a 166 2L 2002.
I have a fault on the crank speed sensor. Is this a regular thing? Can it be cleaned & refitted? Is it easy to remove & refit? How much are they?
cheers, steve.

Re: alfa 166

Just had mine replaced (V6 3.0), and it was £23 + VAT. Total was £130, which included the diagnostice test, and a tow £38 + VAT.
You'll get a sensor at Shop4Parts on the Internet.

Re: alfa 166

Hi all,
i still have a problem....
Engine management light is on, I thought it was the crank speed sensor so I changed it. Light still on & has started to flash a few times. Engine feels like it's mis-firing, can't put my foot down!!
Is there any cheap kit out there so I can test the system? Or what could it be? Its a 166 petrol 2002 2.0L, does any body what to buy the bloody thing!!

Re: alfa 166

Is the light an orange engine light? If so you need a code reader like this one here

Re: alfa 166

I bet there is oil sloped down spark plug No 1 and that has damaged the coil, most common cause of a mis firing TS. A crank sensor either works or does not, rather than cause a misfire. A code reader will say for sure. Fairly cheap off eaby with all these lunched 147/156 engines about.
