Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal on 164 24V
The 12 valve 164 certainly had a restrictor in the line - looks a bit like a cotton reel in series. As I understand, it's purpose was to prevent clutch judder but as far as I can tell, all it does is make the clutch heavier. I have binned them on all my 164s. It's dead easy to do - just unscrew the union and then screw the first section of pipe directly into the slave cylinder. Takes about 10 minutes. I don't recall it making the pedal reluctant to return though. Is the pedal it'sef free? Can you disconnect the clevis pin through the pedal and just check that it pivots freely in its bearing?
