The bulb type will be marked on the lamp housing somewhere close to the removable back cover for the bulb. H1 is likely to be a main beam bulb, and I have never seen one used for a dip beam. However it may have been used in some of the early PES units
HID conversion kits are available on the aftermarket, however these are illegal to fit to road cars, no matter what the adverts say. In fact, these kits have become such an issue that the VCA is currently investigating ways to put in place a check to ensure that people do not fit them to their vehicles (in fact they were in our darkroom last week measuring all sorts of aftermarket bulbs as part of a study into the quality of such items)...probably as an extra check in the MOT.
