I don't want to lower the car; too many speed bumps in London. Does anyone know whether the Super is really lower than the standard car? Any recommendations for standard height springs, are the revised suspension springs the ones the ones to go for?
Mike, I would definitely replace the springs, at least on the front, as your car will almost definitely have the dreaded "V6 sag", ie Your front springs are worn-out!
As far as replacements go, I would recommend using 3.2 TI springs;
these are 15mm lower than a standard FL 166.
I have just fitted these springs (yesterday) on the front of my 166 Super, and I am dead pleased with the results.
Early days, but so far, the car is much
better over speed bumps, less suspension dive, roll, etc, with not much loss of ride comfort.
As far as ride height goes, the car has been raised 10mm, so I guess the standard springs were knackered.
Cost, about £60 spring,
Part number: 0060658365
Also, I would replace the strut top mount, while you are at it.
NB-If you are doing the springs yourself, get a garage to put the new spring on with their hydraulic compressors, I think they are too stiff for a home mechanic!
