Alfa 166 emission problem
I have a 1999 Alfa 166 2.5 V6. 102,000 miles on the clock.
Lately, when I start the car from cold, the engine tends to sputter and the car seems to be struggling to get power when taking off. Once the car is at normal operating temp it's fine.
An exhaust emision test revealed the following:
High idle Lambda: 1.080
(2590 rpm) CO 0.00 vol%
HC 8 ppm
The range for the lambda to pass the emissions test is out of range. The range being 0.97 to 1.03.
Any ideas on how to fix this? My garage is saying it maybe the lambda sensor or the exhaust? I'd like to know which since both options are expensive. Does anyone have any views?
