Re: battery not charging
Hi, I don't know if you have the same problem as me but it happened on both of my 166's (a 3.0L and a 2.5L). The engine earth runs from the passenger side inner wing to the gearbox mount. The connection to the mount, which is alluminium, is with a steel bolt. The lead being braded copper sets up an electrochemical cell causing corrosion and preventing the connection carrying a current. To test for this check for a voltage betwee the chasis and the engine. This should be zero or negligable. If a potential difference exists then this is your problem. I tried to remove the bolt at the gearbox mount but on both cars it "rung" off due to the corrision. I solved this by bolting the lead to a bracket on the top of the engine (beside the thermostatic valve)
Hope this helps.
