New disk player for 166

Advertised on E-bay. I emailed the seller as the magazine is missing. He said that if my car had a didk player fitted then his would fit BUT if I didn't then the player would be no good to me. Does this make sense??

didk?? Basically, if it's the becker/alfa player it will fit if you've got the cables...if not you just need to source and fit them. The cart from an older sony model will fit the becker unit.

That's what I thought. He asked for the chassis number of my car, which I sent, and then I got the 'no good' response. Strange thig is, he advertised it as being for an Alfa 166. Nothing more specific than that. I thought I must be missing something...

very strange....i was pretty sure that there was only one model of CD player for the 166 - i think he's talking crap but that's just my opinion

Ask him for the model number on the back and i can compare it with mine if you want...

I've seen that on Ebay,all cd players are the same for the 166,
but you need to be careful and make sure it is not the becker
silverstone as fitted to certain porsches,visually identical ,but not
compatible with the ics on the 166,if it is the alfa one I cannot
understand what he is talking about,if you have not got the cables
fitted they are available,but a bit of a mission to fit,plenty of posts
on here,in particular Niall is a bit of an expert he's fitted the lot!

that one's not the silverstone as it says becker 2660 silverstone on the front

Niall some of the Alfa cd players have becker silverstone on the front.
The original one out of my TI,was branded like this,the replacement
is plain,a friend of mine had a Super ,cd player fitted in boot,with
Becker branding!

ah well, that's that theory blown....actually, i've seen alfa CD's with the becker branding before as well - must be getting senile as 30 edges ever closer

pretty sure 1092 is what mine says on the back but i'll need to check the part number when i get back home....i'd put money on it being the right player though

Thats' the one,just as a matter of interest it fits the Lancia Lybra
as well ,they usually have a Fiat group sticker on the back.

ah, only the Lybra with the ICS....some lybra's used a grundig changer. I'm being a pedant today

funny enough there has been a few cd players on Ebay lately,
one went for £92.00,last week,this week another has been relisted
with a £49.00 starting bid and now this new one has turned up,
personally I would bid for the new one as they are not that reliable
and it is very rare for a new one to turn up.

or just get a loudlink/icelink

Tried to order a loudlink off their website,it doesn't seem possible
to actually get to the stage of purchasing it,there doesn't seem to be
any shopping basket,checkout etc.,just details of the product,tried
emailing them with no success,anyway as I mentioned the other
week managed to get a mint cd player,which I am pleased to say
works a treat.

Well how about this for a steal,brand new and just sold for £82.00
