Help Installation RCA, and one multipole Unilink connector

Fellow Alfians,

I have searched my 166 2.0 TS year 98-99 for the RCA and unilink connector. Unfortunately I can't find it and according to other AO members, some 166 are not fitted with these cables.

question: How to custom fits RCA and unilink connector?

I am sure by now you would have guessed that I am planning to install an MP3 player (hopefully loudlink), which is entirely correct!

Thank you in advance

micai

Re: Installation RCA, and one multipole Unilink connector

Hello Micai

Well, I've had the very same problem as you and many others alike and my solution to the wiring/cabling problem was to go to the scrapyard and there locate an crashed Alfa 166 with the cables in it. I finally did find one here in Sweden, all together with a G3 nav unit and cd-changer. It was almost like hitting the jackpot. However, there was no possibility to get the complete cableloom out together with the connectors so I had to cut them with about 40cm cables hanging lose and then solder in some new wires in between. It took some work and effort but now it is all working like a charm.

you can buy the CD cable on its own...look for a mini iso to unilink cable (or becker) and that should work....

Thanks guys for your quick reply

Nick: you are right, you're one lucky man. I doubt I'll get the same package as you but still it wouldn't hurt to check the scrapyard for the parts. Finger crossed!!!

Niallmoran: you're solution would be the most applicable in my case. I think Alfa authorized workshops should have the cables and be able to install them right? I'll try calling them and post some information here later for others to refer to.

By the way, I emailed loudlink on the matter as well to check if they could install the necessary cables for the mp3 module. Also hope they will give some good feedback.

Thanks again.

no need to solder - plug the green and blue bits into the back of the ICS and unilink and audio cable to the cd changer or loudlink....easy peasy
