Anyone interested in my 166 Super?

It's not definite yet but I am *considering* selling my Super when I next return to the UK, in the New Year (Jan/Feb). At the moment, I am just asking if anyone here would be interested, as I will not have a great deal of time when I'm back.

Specification:
1999 166 Super (3 litre, 24V, 6 speed manual) in black
Fully stamped service history from new
Manuals, Code Card, 2 main keys plus valet key all present
4 owners from new
123K miles confirmed by service history, paperwork, old MoTs
Crested grey MOMO Leather interior with electric heated seats
Full electrics, including optional sliding/tilting sunroof
Stainless Steel Powerflow exhaust
Nokia Car Kit
5x original Alfa 17" alloys (1 new)
ICS with factory-fitted ICE upgrades (DSP, 6 CD changer)
Rain-sensitive wipers, electric fold-back mirrors, cruise control, front & side airbags etc. (full Super specification with all options available except Xenons and Navigation)

All servicing has been completed at the correct intervals, including cambelts and tensioners (both changed twice). In addition, I have recently replaced the MAF, radiator, air con motor and an air con pipe, plus had the system re-gassed. All parts used were original Alfa parts. The car had an oil/filter change a couple of months ago and will have a winter service next week. I plan to have it re-MoT'd when I'm back next year, as it runs out sometime in Feb.

The car is very quick with the new MAF and runs superbly. Also, unusually , everything works on this 166. There are no niggles or faults with electrics or even typical minor issues, such as squeaking clutch pedal or non-opening dashboard compartment!

There are a few stone chips at the front, as to be expected at this mileage, and a small dent on the rear bumper which was there when I bought it (and is currently covered by a GB sticker, so you'll appreciate it is not a big issue and will not take much to fix).

I am looking for at least £3K, which is a decent price for a Super which is in this condition. Let me know if you're interested. There are a few photos posted on the forum but I will post more (and can e-mail them, too) when I get some time.

Everybody stay calm. Don't panic. It's just the end of the world. It'll be all right, as long as we all keep chanting.

Re: Anyone interested in my 166 Super?

I don't think it can really be satisfactorily replaced, Niall. I'm not thinking about buying anything else at the moment, only whether to keep the 166 for another year or not. My NCB is safe for a couple of years if I am without my own insurance. I could still keep the 166 - and I will if there's no serious interest, as I'm certainly not going to give the car away.

In the past, I've thought about what I might buy but, despite all the great cars available, there's a surprising lack of vehicles with the spec I want, namely newer and smaller than a 166 but with real character, good performance, a sporting nature but with subtlety (no EVOs here, thanks ) and fully-loaded luxury.

Most cars have some of these qualities but very few have everything and it's even more difficult if you don't have endless quantities of cash to throw around! Can you think of anything? Perhaps a Citroen C4 VTS, a Smart forfour Brabus, Ford Focus ST...?

Hammy, if by that last remark you are saying that all my other tastes in cars have been s**t, then I am afraid I wholeheartedly agree,

Loads of power and some practicality, too, but not enough character, lacking style, typical uninteresting German interior, not to mention stupid prices (£40K+ for a 2006!).

what about an MG ZT 260? Fit a supercharger and crazy amounts of power from that V8 are possible

They're quite well loaded, especially the SE with highline navigation. RWD, too. Beginning to look a bit dated, though, and fuel consumption is dire. Makes the V6 166 seem like a Smart . Also, not really any smaller than the 166.

No, it's a UK registered RHD model, Paul.

Shame, I'd be quite happy with lhd. I went onto autoscout24.de and there seem to be dozens of 166's in Germany for sale. A lot more choice than here.

I'd go over and buy one if I could be sure of the dealer.
