Used Value

OK now don't start on me..... MAY trade the bella in for a Seat Altea (cougehs) with a view to purchasing a GTV once i'v sweet talked the wife....
What is the minimum peeps would accept for:
99 sportronic 2.5, Full momo leather and DSP. 84000. EVERYTHING works, no dents (lots of chips as expected for this age). I even have a full tool kit!
Belts done at 60K with brand new top end. Will need 2 new tyres soon for MOT.
I reckon they may offer £1500 in which case I will go for private sale OR break for spares (shame but at least they go to good homes
Reckon £300 for full leather (elec seats), £200 for DSP/speaker/multichanger. £1000 for engine and gearbox. £200 for other parts/odds and sods.?
Comments but no flaming.......

Re: Used Value

probably about the right ball park for trade in to be honest....might get a wee bit more privately but early 166's are probably worth more in bits these days.

Re: Used Value

bought my 2.5 at auction from a private buyer with 72k on it for £1800, so £1500 would seem reasonable I guess, but BREAKING IT

Ok I get the maths but even so....

Consider yourself roasted

Re: Used Value

Sell private, and then you'll have more buying power on the Seat (Are you sure about this though)?

Wouldn't hurt to try ebay ! Set your start at £ 1500 and see what happens.

Re: Used Value

Looking at autotrader may struggle to get more than £1800 private sale and far less hassle to trade in. We'll see what they offer.
Planning on chipping the Seat smoker to 190bhp and the DSG to should get similar performance (but far less toys and no leather.... )

Re: Used Value

I was recently told that the CAP price for a 99 Super is about £1000! There's no way I'd trade mine in for anything at that price. I'm sure it's well worth £3K. A Sportronic 2.5 should be worth less than a Super. Of course, they could offer you a lot more but that probably just means they're charging too much for the Altea! As howell says, better to sell privately and then haggle them down with a cash-only purchase.

Re: Used Value

As for the crime of breaking a good Alfa (Are you Alfisti or not??) people don't as a rule get what they hope for parts. Marco had a full leather interior he couldn't give away and most people dont want the full engine, just the heads. If you want to move over to the dark side (non Alfa) just accept the price you paid was cheap for what you got, and now it's older it's even cheaper. You cant expect to win both ways.

Re: Used Value

a lot of perfectly good cars are now worth more in bits than as a whole, the thing that puts most people off is the hassle of stripping a car and then disposing of the shell. I'd personally not have any qualms stipping an old 166...after all the bits are going to (hopefully) be used to keep better ones up and running

But this is a perfectly good 166 not a shed. There are plenty of insurance jobs on ebay. Leave the good ones alone!!!
