CD changer problem

The CD carrier is not ejecting from my CD player, the CDs still play but I can't change them!

Looks like I'll have to take the player out and explore. Has anyone had similar problems and found a fix?

Re: CD changer problem

Sorry cant help on this one Mike .Perhaps a wee Tv shop would help out. They do VCRs DVD etc.

I had a friend who had a wee TV shop in Muirhead who could have fixed it BUT unfortunately he passed on a couple of years ago.The BIG YIN must have needed a good TV engineer. Our loss.

Re: CD changer problem

yeah, both my players were like that....it's clumsy people forcing the magazine in and bending the return spring - easy fix if you can be bothered to take it apart

Re: CD changer problem

Niall,
I suppose the clumsy person must be me - I've had the car for 6 years!
I've taken the CD player apart but the cassette seems to be firmly held in place and not just against a spring. It's also pretty complex and difficult get at, I guess this is where I try to find a decent car radio specialist, the guy who sorted me out with the Sony cartridge and serviced it when it was new has gone out of business.

Re: CD changer problem

hmmm....you're testing my memory with this one - i guess there must be a clip holding the cartridge in that you need to release to get the cart out. Not sure if this was the same problem i had or not but if you get stuck i'll happily take a look if you can be bothered sending it to me!

Re: CD changer problem

Niall,
Thanks for the offer, it would be a bu**er to photograph because it's right indide the changer, I've found my local radio dealer has moved so I'll try him today.
Thanks again

Re: CD changer problem

I had a problem with my changer a while back. The disc magazine would go in and come out ok but the discs would not load and play.

I got annoyed and gave it a good thump with my fist and it has been fine ever since. The headunit is now playing up though for another reason..
