Intermittent headlight on 166

Hi, my left headlight has a life of its own. In most cases when I switch the lights on, the left one is dead. It may turn on after a few seconds, minutes or never.

Sounds like a bad contact until someone told me that the 166 headlight socket has a reputation of it's own. This person had a similar problem and the garage recommended replacing the whole light block.

Any advice on some quick checks, I can do before investing into a new headlight before it starts getting dark.

Thanks

Re: Intermittent headlight on 166

I am using regulars. Last night I gave the connectors a metal brush job and a squeeze. So far so good, but I may come across some other issue in a few days.

The fact that the garage claimed that this is a weak spot of the car may have put me on a tangent.

don't think i've heard of that being a weak point to be honest....faulty xenons seem to be the biggest problem for headlights!
