Just got a 166!

Newbie!! ...................

Well i finally bought me a 166, a rather nice 3.0 V6 sportronic on a T plate. A fantastic car and a very worthy replacement to my old 164 cloverleaf.

I have a few issues with it though! First off there is a cd changer in the boot, when i put cds in go to the ics and press the cd button it checks all 6 discs and then says no cd!? Any ideas??

second thing is the brakes, there seems to be a fair it of pedal travel and when the handbrake is applied the brake warning light flashes! I've checked the fluid level and all seems ok!?

Apart from these there a fantastic car and so glad i bought it!

Sorry if this is a silly question, but are the CDs the right way round?

Re: Just got a 166!

Fixed the cd changer now was what seemed to be a loose connection plug on the back which dropped off when I pulled it forward.

Still hve the issues with the handbrake light flashing when the handbrake is applied, need to have a look at the pads and discs this weekend to see as I think there due a replacement!

Re: Just got a 166!

the light is supposed to flash when the handbrake is on (is it not?) i'm sure mine does that and i think the old one did....the light stays on steady when it's a low fluid or other brake warning.

Re: Just got a 166!

Hi Dan,

Congratulations with your 166. Related to the brake light: When the handbrake is applied it flashes. When the front brake pads are worn out or brake fluid is low it will light steady. I never use the handbrake. Position P of the Sportronic is my handbrake. Wish you good luck with your new car.

Re: Just got a 166!

Welll that is a relief that it is supposed to flash when applied!

Loving every minute if driving it, not really used sport mode just plodding around enjoy the comfort and smoothness! Will get some pictures this weekend once I have given it a good clena and applied some winter wax protection.
