Can someone please post instructions how to remove CD Changer
I have a 166 3.0 with Navigation and CD Changer, I want to fit a Loudlink.
Can somebody please guide me how to remove the CD Changer, I can see one screw on the side, but I'm very paranoid about damaging the Navigation unit.
I would appreciate any help somebody can give me.

2 screws either side IIRC....you can just leave the changer there though and unplug it.

actually, i seem to remember that getting the screws at the sides is a real bugger and it might be easier undoing the nuts holding the cd player/satnav bracket to the frame over the battery....

Yes, I couldnt see the screws on the side and was worried about pulling out the whole thing for fear of damaging the Nav unit, hence the original question.
Niall, dont suppose you have any diagrams or anything? Alternatively maybe I should just feel around the back and try to pull the wires out..?

ummm - i'd avoid taking the wires out (esp nav) as they are a bugger to get back in! Removing the 4 nuts lower down shoudl allow you enough "wiggle room" to get the screws out the side of the CD player.
I hate working in that area of the boot....i hope to never see it again

Re: Can someone please post instructions how to remove CD Changer
When I fitted the Loudlink I could just get in around the right hand side to disconnect to cables and attach to loudlink - I then used sticky back Velcro on the right hand side of the CD changer and on the Loudlink so I could easily swap the SD card and keep the CD changer in place - then I remembered I still had 6 CD's in the changer and no power to get them out So, the CD changer had to come out as I could not plug the cables back in as they were now hanging down the back.
From memory, pull down the boot lining surrounding the CD changer/SAT Nav after removing 2 twisty nuts on each side - on the front of the CD changer there are some allen key bolts - remove these and the CD changer slides out.

Be very careful not to let any cables touch the battery - cleverly sited just below and not protected by any casing - or you'll blow the ICS and have a lovely big bill...

Re: Can someone please post instructions how to remove CD Changer
Can I ask a related question? I too am about to install a loudlink in my 166. I do not currently have a CD changer installed. I hoped it would be a fairly straightforward process, but my first attempt was stymied because I could not find the audio cables. I assume they must be there somewhere, and they probably just fell down behind the battery and maybe got pulled back into the side panel a bit.
My plan was to take out the battery and try to fish them out. However, after reading so many posts on AO desperately looking for codes for their nav system, I'm concerned. Will disconnecting the battery definitely reset the system, or does it have to be disconnected for a long period of time?
Any guidance/advice would be appreciated. Many thanks!
Mikael

Yes disconnecting the battery will require a code for the ICS when you turn it back on.

...but you might not need a code for the nav - seems to depend on what mood it's in (must be female )

Is this not dependant on length of time battery is disconnected? I am sure I have disconnected and not had to put code in.

Just to pour further doom on the problem, you may not even have the audio cables, not all 166's have.

Oh no! Please don't tell me that! I searched the AO forums before buying the thing and seem to remember several posts saying that all 166's have them, even if they don't have a changer.
So I may end up removing the battery, finding that there are no cables for the loudlink, then getting frozen our of the ICS so I can't even listen to the radio. Great!
