Dampers and springs för the 166, what shall I go for?

Hello folks!

My 166 V6 TB is having a little tired dampers and springs. The rear is now a bit lower than the front, and the left side is lower than the right, so I must get some now springs and dampers. The car has run 150000 km.

I thinking of Bilstein B6 dampers, but what springs shall I buy? I don't want to lower the car more than necessary. The camber is way off as it is now, and lowering the car will only make that worse. Or is the camber adjustable at the rear? Now my tires are almost new on the outside and almost blank on the inside.

I want the car to firmer in the suspension, but not as firm as my 75 3,0 racer.

Please give me some advise!

Gustav

Bilstein dampers will stiffen up the suspension and give very good control and could easily be used with standard springs.

Eibach have springs for the 166 which are -30mm but this height is compared to a new Alfa springs so may actually be the same as you have now with worn dampers especially at the front with V6 engine

Thanks for the answers!

I will check what the standard springs cost. Then I will decide if shall go for the Eibach or the original.

Hi

I have the Eibach/Bilstein B8 combination.
It's sporty but not to stiff, very good handling.

I am very pleased with Bilstein B6 with stock springs on my 3l Super. Would go for lower Eibach springs, but I have to use my 166 daily on worst Europe roads. Ride is firm and solid, no jiggling or swinging, but the issue with inner side tire wear is still open suspension is perfect, wheel alignment done by Alfa Romeo dealer. could springs be worn? car has done 130k km and is from 2001. however 166 tire wear issue is not so bad as with my previous 3l GTV, so I can live with it
