veloces 166 3.0 facelift

It seems that Veloces have obtained a limited supply of 3.0 sportronic
lussos(facelift),new and unregistered, obviously some redundant unsold
stock as the 3.0 was discontinued pretty early on.
However a hell of a lot of car for£16k.!
Of course I guess the sportronic is tge least attractive model?

Re: veloces 166 3.0 facelift

No just bought a facelift TI,very rare and I just love it ,but I don't
think they will have much trouble shifting them at such a sensible
price.

Australia had new 3.0 Sportronics (even TIs) until only a few months ago.

does 16k for a "new" one not make their 2nd hand prices seem crazy?

Re: veloces 166 3.0 facelift

Just had a call from Veloces - Cars should be available in 4 weeks, were heading for Malaysian market but now heading to UK. They believe they were early 2006 build so cambelts etc. not an issue until end of warranty period. They are taking a £250 refundable deposit to secure a specific car of chosen colour. They have 11 cars coming in, 6 of these have already been snaped up. I asked - No 3.2's!! - Salesman said that he sold a second hand 3.2 for £17k last week anyway so pricing would be totally different!!

Good link here - http://www.italiaspeed.com/new_model...66_images.html - I want!!!!!!

Tempting!? Anyone want to buy my Super?

It has to be Italian! Fiat, Lancia & Alfa all my days.

My Alfas - 164 3.0 12v - 156 1.8 SP1 - 164 3.0 24v - 156 SW 1.8 SP3 - 166 Super - 166 3.2 Ti - Brera SV JTDM

Re: veloces 166 3.0 facelift

Dougie they must be from the same batch as all those selespeed
156s' for the malaysian market that another dealer has had on offer
for £10k.
Sportronic or not ,you have got to say these are a deal, and I will
tell you build quality on the facelift has be seen to be appreciated ,
they really are in a different league plus the vast improvements
in suspension.my TI is so quiet and refined it is a pleasure to cruise
down the motorway, whereas the engine in the old t/s was so
intrusive it completely ruined the refined nature of the car.
You know you want one!!!

gah - i've never even sat in a 166 but the one thing lacking in a 156 is refinement

it's like a chuckable little hatch

how do the new/facelift 166's compare to, say, my old Carlton Diplomat (i.e. on a par with old, proper, Mercs?)

is that a daft question?

Re: veloces 166 3.0 facelift

To me a facelift 166 is the car that Saab should have built to
replace the 9000,a car which was years ahead of the opposition,
before all the gm input and the stodgy 95.
The facelift has a real quality feel about and as I was driving along
it reminded me how nice the 9000s' were, nice leather interior,
good roadholding and handling all in a 2litre fwd saloon,of course
there is some connection because the Alfa164 and Saab 9000
shared the same basic platform.

i remember the Thema/Croma/9000/164 alliance

The thema had some interesting touches, and the twin cam turbo was something like 200bhp back in the day (though they served a V6 also, and then the 8:32 Ferrari model).

Re: veloces 166 3.0 facelift

Yes the thema was very similar to the 9000 ,but ofcourse with
some nice Italian touches, there was a nice selection of these
interesting cars at the Auto Italia Show near Lutterworth in September.
I remember when I lived in Leamington Spa ,a garage in Wellesbourne
had a Ferrari engined Thema for sale, lavishly equipped ,but I dare
say maintenance would be a bit of a nightmare for a mere £8k.
