Re: Rare beast sighted at my local dealer
Yes I know JCS ,bought my Super off them earlier in the year,
very nice people to deal with,a proper family run firm.
You're right,a fair few facelift 166 t/sparks about,but TI is pretty rare,
not a bad buy if you have a part ex,as JCS give good allowances
and a decent warranty.

Re: Rare beast sighted at my local dealer
I'm one of those that prefer the facelifted 166's, although I own a pre-facelift 1 56 myself.. 166 pre-facelift is still a lovely car though, it just aged quickly and looks a bit sad (cause it never got a JTD engine? )

Totally disagree with you about the pre-facelift 166 "looks".
It's "rear end" is better then Jenifer Lopez's
It's "side view" is sleek and stylish.
And it's "big slopeing bonnet" announces that theres a "powerfull Alfa Romeo engine enclosed!"
I am amazed at how many people still stop and take a second look this 8 year old car. Amazed yet not suprised - as people know true style when they see it!

Re: Rare beast sighted at my local dealer
This thread is killing me.
All I get is a pop-up window that's completely blank. Nothing in the thread to say what the car is or who the dealer is.
Would somebody point me in the right direction please?

Yeah, this has been mentioned before in other threads and I agree. The 166 Ti was a disappointment. There's nothing really special about it. I don't think (slightly) different wheels, (slightly) different leather, red instrument lighting and some badges really justifies the Ti label. Certainly isn't worth paying a premium for.

Re: Rare beast sighted at my local dealer
Full Ti spec;
'TI pack is available on Lusso versions of the revised Alfa 166. This sports-orientated pack includes a 15 mm lower ride height with revised spring and damper settings, bespoke 18" TI spoked alloy wheels, a black sports interior featuring black leather sports seats imprinted with the Alfa Romeo logo, and TI badging to aluminium door sill plates and the rear of the car.'
I wouldn't personally pay for it as an option as it was fairly expensive - but I wouldn't be without out - the wheels get commented on all the time. as does the trim and you can really throw the car around - handles better than my 156.
Styling is a major part of the package afterall - I've had Cloverleaf, Veloce and Ti packs on all my alfas and wouldn't be without them - personally I think this is how they should be shippped as standard.
Maybe you're after flames coming out the back?

Re: Rare beast sighted at my local dealer
I might possibly contemplate part exing my 53 plate Super for this,
as I have dealt with JCS before(a very good dealer),however there
is not much point, because I am going down to 150 bhp from 227 bhp
on my current car,I have had a twinnie before,it was ultra reliable
but I found it a tiring car to drive on a run as the engine had to be worked very hard and was noisy because of the low gearing,in comparison the v6 is very refined and so much more flexible and 23.7
mpg overall as compared to 25.9 overall for the twinnie is not so much
in fuel costs.
All I would be gaining is the front end,a cd player, and the TI pack
(very nice),I think the answer is is hang on for a 3.2 TI,pretty rare,
but these t/s facelifts are relatively common and sometimes(privately)
can be snapped up for bargain prices, whilst the dealers always slap
a hefty premium on!

Re: Rare beast sighted at my local dealer
25.9 from your twink?? Must have really been having fun! The 6 speed box makes the twink much better TBH...nicer ratios to keep the old girl on the boil
I just checked my long term average over the last 6k miles and it's 31.5 - that's with a mixture of town stuff and some long(ish) runs. Got 37.5 at the weekend with a trip to Pitlochry - 120 miles, 50 mph average...wasn't trying too hard and could have got it into the 38's i'm sure

Re: Rare beast sighted at my local dealer
Yes,my t/spark was unfortunately a 2000 my registered in 2001
and only 5 spd, very low geared after coming from an eco power
Saab(very tall 5th.gear),so obviously always revving its' head off,you will know what I am talking about ,because if I remember Niall you
had an early t/spark?
