Two technical issues - CV Joint and Seized Tracking Rods

I thought it better to start a new thread to ask some advice from those technically inclined.

As mentioned, my 166 3.0 Auto o/s front CV boot has disintegrated, causing a leak of the fluid too.

My question, will obtaining a new boot be sufficient or is it advisable to get a new CV joint too? Clearly these CV issues are what are causing the vibration to occur that I mentioned in my other thread. I would appreciate any advice on this.

Secondly, I wanted to have four wheel alignment carried out as my tyre wear was uneven on the front but they were unable to do it as the track rods are seized. Is this a common issue and are there easy (and cheap) solutions?

Thanks for any advice.

Re: Two technical issues - CV Joint and Seized Tracking Rods

New track rods are cheap - check on ebay simple to change. Seized? Have they heard of easing oil?
But CV joint is a pig cos hub nut has to come off and its a REAL PIG. If you can find someone to give you a FIXED price to do it thats reasonable, get them to do it. Had one of mine done last year. He said it would take 30 mins, I thought not. 3hrs later it was done, at the price agreed earlier....
