Six year old discovers sportronic box...

My six year old son recently enquired why I push the gearstick towards him sometimes when he sits in the front seat?
Its to make the car go quicker and get past slower cars I told him.
"Can I have a go Dad?"
After lecturing him on why he must never touch it unless he is told he can I let him flick the stick across into sport mode.
I only wish I had a photo taken from a car travelling towards us.
We both whooped with delight as the car dropped two cogs and took off. We both beamed like Cheshire cats for the next four miles.
The pleasures of a 166 to young and old.

Sounds like fun Mickey..

I used to let my old girlfriend "do the gears" for me sometimes, eventually she got to learn my driving so well that we didn't even have to speak, and even with the music on over the engine noise, she could always tell when I was dropping the clutch, and she engaged the next cog, be it up, down or down 2 for a roundabout, she always did it as good as I do myself. And it was great fun, kind of like driving an auto

my lad as a three year old in car seat, when in old BMW E30 325 (when beemers had style and character) found gearstick when we were doing 90 on M1 fast lane - the sudden panic when you have no power and don't know why!! Must have made picture too.

And a beemer 325 straight 6 not really designed for high revs
