Help HELP - positive battery terminal post connection

Hi all,

I'm after a positive battery terminal connector for my 3.0 Super. It has two rings that slip over the terminal post and they have broken. I only discovered this after the car wouldn't start all of a sudden and I knew the battery was fine. Some idiot had overtightened it in the past.

Anyway, Alfa list the part with the connecting leads for over £100 which is ridiculous for a £5 bit.

Anyone advise or know where I can get a second hand one nice and easily!?

Cheers

Replacement clamps are available from most good spares suppliers. Just a case of connecting it to the cable, usually there are clamping screws. Make sure you get the positive clamp as it is slightly diiferent in size to the negative one.

Cheers chaps - the guy I bought it off has sourced a second hand one off another 166 and is sending it to me FOC so hopefully it's sorted.

It just means I'll have to use the 75 for a few more days - ah well!

Almost got same problem - noticed it when changing battery.

Breakers won't take one off for me (they can't be bothered with such a small part & I don't want to tell them how much it is worth )

I asked Autoworld if they were taking the ****, but they were just as shocked as me - they told me to sit down before they told me the price.

Apparently (and a check on eper confirms) the part is complete with main positive cable - the clamp is not separate.

I haev looked at my wife's punto, and the terminal is the same, just with 2 screw on cables, where the 166 has 3 screw ons. Yes, you do get screwed more by Alfa , but it gives ideas if you are near a fiat breakers.

Halfords have a few battery terminal connectors - they would be a 'make-do' part, but better than £100+, I haven't yet looked hard enough to find a pattern part, although I reckon a small piece of aluminium (say 7cm x3cm) could be cut and bent into a perfectly suitable connector.

Just a thought - put a halfords connector around the remnants of the alfa connector

don't mention Z4
