Pre facelift 166 at Mangoletsi

I'm the one who bought the facelift 166 TS from Mangoletsi that was covered in a thread last week. This means that my 2003 pre-facelift 166 TS Lusso was taken in part ex by Mangos. I thought it was worth posting a few details on the car in case any forum member is looking for a good late model pre-facelift six speed TS. I bought the car pre-registered three years ago with 11 miles on the clock. I've since done 62K mostly motorway miles. It's a really nice car with full ASH. Belts and cam variator were done three months ago, along with new brake pads all round and air con service. The car is silver with black leather and the reg is YE53 RPO. The man to talk to at Mangos is Steve Birtwistle.

I picked up the new car yesterday and it's great, really good spec (Lusso with Ti wheels) and drives very well. Usual strange Alfa spec variations -it's lost the memory function on the drivers seat that the one above has but has gained rear parking sensors! The ride is surprisingly good, the combination of the 18" Ti wheels and standard suspension seems like a good compromise. The lowered Ti suspension might be a bit much with the potholed horrors that pass as roads up here in Leeds. The first owner has also fitted some little shaped mud flaps (probably a good thing with the wide tyres) and those clear wind deflectors on the front windows. The wind deflectors are unobtrusive and no-doubt will be good for driving around with windows down Italian style.

This is my third 166 in a row, I've now done over 130K miles in them and have accepted that I'm addicted!

Yes, I saw your new car at Mangos a week or so ago. Looked very nice and if it had the 3.2 engine, I'd have bought it there and then!

Many miles of happy motoring

Thanks for the good wishes Hunter. I know just what you mean about the 3.2 but doing about 20K miles per year the fuel consumption is just too much. As I'm self-employed the pennies become a bit of an issue.

Surely you can't claim 40p/mile back!? If so from who?

You can claim 40p/mile as a deduction from your income to be taxed - My wife has just started her own business and that is how I understand it!

I get over 40p/mile from my work - I am only taxed on the excess above this amount which is classed as a benefit.

Finally pics of the car. I hope that these work as I've not done one of these before! Here goes.

Help please, the pics won't load as they're 5/600kb and the limit appears to be 100kb. How do I reduce?
