My 166 - She's Back
For those of you that have a good memory, I had my 166 written off by my insurance company about 4 months ago. I have finally got her together and as a thanks to the knowledge and advice on this forum I though I would post a couple of pictures for you all to enjoy.
During the repairs we have replaced front and rear bumpers, boot and bonnet. As we had the paint out we went a little over the top and painted almost the entire car....
We also thought the wheels could do with a spruce up so we repainted these with a little extra metallic.
She is a standard 166 Super apart from I have rebuilt the suspension with Koni shocks and Powerflex bushes, fitted drilled and groved disks and installed a audio in kit in place of the CD changer. Apart from some very small niggles I have finally got her in the condition she deserves...
I have only had her back on the road for a month and I have already done 4000 mls...and loved every single one of them.

Black with the 17s; a very good choice, I'd say .

Re: My 166 - She's Back
I'm confused - if your 166 was written off does this mean it is cat D? If so, wouldn't it be better to just get a new one, 'cos the resale values will be awful?
Car looks amazing though!

Awesome car dude!!
Who cares about resale? Never sell it!!
(Anyway you can always get it inspected and taken off the register)

Re: My 166 - She's Back
The skirts are the orginal factory fitted kit - Wouldn't own a 166 without them... they transform an already beautiful car...
Yes my car does now have a Cat rating on the papers but who cares they are not worth anything to resell anyway... and why would I ever sell it?
The other reason I decided to run with this one and not a new car as I had already spent the money on the mechanics and they are almost perfect. This included major engine service, complete suspension and brake rebuild, new tyres etc etc... I did have the chassis measured and she was perfectly straight so it was just a front and rear rebuild.
Plus the price I brought it back for is about 20% the cost of a new one with the same specs...
My sound system is the factory system with the DSP amp. I have unplugged the CD player and added the line input kit from the dutch guy (sorry can't remember his name but if you search this forum you will find many a post on it) which gives me a 3.5mm line input when I select the CD button on the audio system. I then purchased from apple a kit which allow me to charge my ipod and plug in the 3.5mm jack into the same cable. Sound is amazing and I have 80G of music at my finger tips....
BTW she is a very dark metallic blue not black.... still needs cleaning twice weekly...

Lovely car - congratulations. I guess it must have been a lot of hard work and a real labour of love

Re: My 166 - She's Back
Gorgeous car, congrats on bringing it back to life and not scrapping it.
Has the crash left you out of pocket though, seen as you they'll have written it off as it was un-economical to repair?

That looks fantastic. You're right about the side skirts. Unfortunately, i wouldn't be able to get on or off my drive if i had them.
And Amen to the resale comment.
