Help Fitting New Armrest Cover - advice needed

Hi All,

A new lid for my armrest arrived in the post (from Alfa Aid - Highly recommended) and I was wondering, before I go and break something, can anyone advise me on removing the existinglid and replacing it? It all looks like plastic and hence I am concerned for snapping something!!

Cheers, Cluffstarr

Re: Fitting New Armrest Cover - advice needed

If I remember correctly it's just a case of twisting it gently whilst pulling one of the arms gently the new cover goes on much easier than the old one comes off though so you may break the old one taking it off but the new one means that shouldn't matter anyway

Do you know if the plastic clips on the armrest lid connect to metal or more plastic? - excess twisting can have a bad effect on plastic in my experience!!

£29 + VAT and a few quid for delivery - I got a new front badge at the same time so cant say exactly but probs less than £40 if I had got it on its own. Not bad to tidy the worst bit of my interior!

Re: Fitting New Armrest Cover - advice needed

Hi Cluffstar, I was about to post the same question!

It's a shame they let down such a beautiful interior with a bit of leatherette just where it will wear out quickly!

Then again, after 113k I guess mine is entitled to look a bit the worse for wear...

Alfa Aid here I come!

Re: Fitting New Armrest Cover - advice needed

Done It! Dead easy - just squeeze the two arms together until atleast one of the pops out and then pull forward. Reverse for putting the new one in!

Re: Fitting New Armrest Cover - advice needed

After reading your post Cluffstarr, I also got new armrest lid from Alfa Aid (great source & quick delivery), fitted it in 2 minutes. The old worn armrest lid always bugged me, now sorted.

Thanks Cluffstarr.

Re: Fitting New Armrest Cover - advice needed

For future reference, the later 166s had real leather armrests. Mine was also cracked, but I got a new (second hand) one from a 52 plate car last week.

I won't tell you how much I paid...
