Problem with 166 2.5 auto gearbox

Hello,

I am new here but would like to ask if anyone had experiance with following problem:

auto gearbox works fine but while driving red gearbox indication turns on and gearbox is dead, i.e. not working, like it is in neutral or stays in current gear

there are no sounds coming from gearbox, it works smooth but it stops for some reason

furthermore, when tried to do diagnostics, cpu unit in car gives no response when connected to diagnostics tool, like it is not connected at all

any advice is very much appreciated

I have the same problem if I go from Sportronic mode to Neutral in a very short time. The gear box really has to be in D before I can safely go to Neutral, otherwise the LED comes on and the gearbox is in failsafe mode (and we don't want that, now do we? )
