Sat Nav stopped working

Hi, anyone got any suggestions regarding the 166 Sat Nav and where the GPS reciever is? I can't pick up any satellite contact and I am guessing that there is either a loose connection or the device needs replacing. Either way I would like to get to it and have a look before I take it to a garage and get charged an arm and leg to get it fixed.
Cheers

Re: Sat Nav stopped working

Start from the back in the boot, maybe unplug the unit and plug it back in see what happens.

Then move to the rear seats (in the car not the boot) on the passanger side corner piller (above the speaker if you have them fitted on the P-self) remove the cover, this is where the second connection point is! PS, make sure you have very clean hands as the cover get filthy!

I wouldnt even go into the rooflineing, its a messy job......

Back into the CD reader if you think is it the GPS cable, the small gray plug is the PGS arial fitment type (being with H...) Go to a GPS shop and ask if you can try an aftermarket arial. Maybe it is just taking time to lock into the signal, connecting when the car is stationary, could be as simple as that!

The gps receiver is housed in the roof ariel, and these are quite prone to breaking down. Do you still have the correct time displayed on the ics unit? as this is adjusted from the gps signal, and the first sign that your not receiving a signal. Replacement aftermarket ariels are cheap enough, around £20-£30.

Chaps, really appreciate your help. The clock still tells the right time and the telephone still works fine too so I am hopefull that the problem resides in the boot with a loose connection to the DVD player as I would assume that there is where the brains lie and not in the ICS unit in the front.

Re: Sat Nav stopped working

Correct ICS doesnt really have anything to do with the navigation apart from the controls and display!

if needed to find out you are more then welcome to test my unit out, however its is getting sold by wednesday!

Re: Sat Nav stopped working

Strange how so many of us have suffered sat nav failure - mine went 18 months ago but I just cannot source a replacement boot unit - the dealer price is astronomical, probably about 1/4 of the car resale value!
Anyone want to sell me a spare boot unit?

Oh dear Mine is still working fine just uses an old 1999 disc.STRANGE HOW SOME OLD ROADS ARE NOT ON IT AND NEW ONES ARE. know what you mean about the price I'm thinking of advertising mine with a free car attached (Just pay for superb Sat Nav System) .Would probably sell better than trying to sell the car with sat nav included.
