164 Transponder key

I left the car running with the red key in the ignition, when I came out the engine had stopped and the code light was showing on the dashboard. I have the code card, but cannot enter the code as the injector light does not show when the throttle is depressed. I dont have any other keys for the car, HELP
I have been told that I need to get another ecu & key from a breakers.

I'm sorry I can't advise on this - my 164 is old enough not to have this type of key. Somebody will be along shortly with something helpful to say I'm sure.

was it not the very late ones that had the code key? My '95 just had a plain one...

Anyway, not sure what the solution is...getting a new ECU and lockset is a bit drastic and i'm sure there are companies out there that can make new keys or reprogramme old ones - have a search for alfa of fiat red key replacement on google maybe?
