Help!!

Can anyone on here help me to understand what I might have done.

I am in the process of renewing the cambelt tensioner on Alfa 12v V6
(3.0l), and after removing the timing belt cover the car now wont start!

Previously engine started every time first time, it has good battery power, no obvious fuel problems, no obvious disturbed electrical connections.

Engine is in stratos replica, by the way not Alfa.

any ideas/suggestions gratefully recieved.

thanks

Dave

Re: Help!!

Have you only removed the plastic covers or have you replaced the belt tensioner? If it's the former, I'm at a bit of a loss. You might have disturbed the crank sensor wire - which runs down the side of the front bank and sits in clips with the sensor pointing at the bottom pulley.

Re: Help!!

Thanks Avocet,

I have only removed the plastic covers, and I too am at a loss to understand this, I thought it may have had something to do with the crankshaft timing sensor, thinking it might be affected by additional light when covers removed, so I put them back on and it still wont start.

I will have a good look at this sensor at the weekend, and try a replacement.

Thanks again. I'll post on here again when I find out what the cause is.

Dave
