are Mafs for different alfas the same

Seems like a dumb question but?

There is a guy on ebay selling a maf for a 147 with these numbers on it.

PBT-GF30
027291
F00C 2G2 063
284 10 2 A

The question is, are these compatible with a166 TS 2001?

thanks,

Richard

If the guy on eBay is the Portland Group, stay away!
They seam to be a very poor quality copy.

agreed - i wasted my time with 2 portland MAF's...stick to genuine alfa/bosch ones, they come up on ebay now and again for not much more than the chinese copies portland sells...

Re: are Mafs for different alfas the same

Well, I know about the Portland ones. This is not one.

So the question remains- it seems that around october 2000, alfa changed from a bosch 280 218 019 to a 281 002 309. When you look at power alfa for example the newer one is cheaper. But they are both easily available on ebay with the older one more common.

Does it matter?

I have looked through each and every page on the whole internet ( it feels like that anyway) and can't find if they are compatible or not.

thanks,

Richard

Yes it matters, the "019" is for pre-EOBD, "309" is for EOBD.

You need the correct MAF sensor for your engine, you can't just pick the cheapest and expect it to work properly.

Yep, I tried the 2.0TS one on my V6 in a vain attempt to get emissions sorted out for an MOT.

No chance.
