Hmmm 166 pollen filter

Hello is it safe to use the climate control in my 166 without my stinking, sweaty smelling pollen filter? I'm only asking because this is the second replacement in 4 months!

Normally not a problem this part of year. But in the spring you´ll be wanting that pollen filter....:-)

Re: 166 pollen filter

Thanks guys. At least i'm not a hayfever sufferer! Those filters are so expensive. My local parts dealer who I think are the cheapest in Leeds charge £31 for it.

Re: 166 pollen filter

More importantly, I think, is to find out why the pollen filter is "stinking, sweaty smelling".

Is the housing full of water? Surely not normal to keep replacing it or to have to run without it.

Mine was wet when I changed it last week but I managed to get water to drain away by poking around outside the filter housing with a coat hanger.

Re: 166 pollen filter

Make sure all drainage holes are clear, then go into Halfords, or such, with your old filter - They stock cabin filters which are good quality and around £8. They may not be the exact size but usually easily sorted - I replaced my 156 one in the summer, I got one that was the correct width but 50% too long, simply cut the extra bit off and fitted it. It was better quality than the OE.
