Thinking of changing 164 Bonnet

Does anybody know if a L reg Cloverleaf bonnet will fit our J reg 164 TS? I know this will appear as sacrilege, but ours is starting to fade. Also are there any major problems in doing this? Thanks.

Re: Thinking of changing 164 Bonnet

I wouldn't think so as the cloverleaf will be a facelift model. If it wasn't, it shouldn't be a problem I don't think, though I don't know. Worries me what would happen to the Cloverleaf though!

Re: Thinking of changing 164 Bonnet

Hi

I have an L-reg 'Leaf and as far as i know the 'Leafs only face lift was the headlights and nothing else. Your bonnet should fit straight on.

I think i am right in saying that the 'Leaf was never changed body wise from the first G-reg cars. Just as well because i personally was never a fan of the smoothed off 164.

Hope this helps.

My thinking was that because the headlight shape is different that's where the problems would lie. However, if you know that they do fit, that's great.

moynesey is correct.

The difference in the facelift h'lights is that the space is covered/taken up by the 'spacer' strip at the bottom of the light unit. So the light unit's height and housing area are the same (its a clever optical illusion, the light unit look so different but actually take up the same room).

HTH

Re: Thinking of changing 164 Bonnet

Is the bonnet grill not slightly different (Not a problem, I know) in that it projects out more or am I thinking of facelifted Lancia Thema!

Are you not cheaper simply getting the bonnet painted or maybe just mopped by a good body shop!?
