My car has just failed the mot on the following: 'Steering rack deformed and unserviceable'. I have since examined the rack and can see nothing wrong with it. Has anyone any suggestions as to what he meant?
You need to ask the MOT tester exactly what he meant!
If no visible damage possibly one or both of the mounting bushes has failed allowing the rack to move out of position. Has the steering wheel gone off centre or its position changed when going straight, particularly after manoeuvering on full lock?
