Headlamp and foglamp fitting

I should get my motor back from the paint shop tomorrow.

I have got a new headlamp and foglamp to fit - Any advice on this would be great to save me taking ages over it!

Got the lights from Jamie Porter - Good prices and service, well recommended.

If the front bumper is being sprayed, ask them to leave it off until the lights are fitted - you have to take the front of the car apart for either

Surely not! - Whole front end respray (damn stone chips!) but I am sure that the bumper will not be removed.

It will be soon....

Have a search for some of the threads regarding adjusting the beam angle of Xenon headlights from a few months ago - the bumper needs to come off to access the 3rd securing bolt for the headlight, and DTE says to take the bumper off to change the fog light also

Re: Headlamp and foglamp fitting

Luckily the paint shop was running behind schedule, bumper was off the car awaiting fresh paint.

He will put the lights in while re-assembling.

Re: Headlamp and foglamp fitting

Yeah, I know.

I have been missing the car for the last week, want to get it back and enjoy it (Sold my Sportwagon the other day so have had to rely on my wife's Seicento Schumacher!!). The last thing that I needed was to spend half a day stripping the 166 apart and possibly scratching my fresh paint!

I am getting the black plastic bottom sections colour coded also (as done on face lift models) - Looking forward to seeing it.

Ha Ha, only joking!

"before" pictures as a reference, note the sill bash, stone chips and smashed lamps not so obvious.

Will post "after" pictures later in week when I get the car back.

Re: Headlamp and foglamp fitting

Car is still in getting the work done, these are before pictures.

I will post after pictures when I get it back.

Bonnet and front wings were stone chipped to death, bumper Ok but I am getting bottom section colour coded so the painter said he would do whole front end.

I am paying £500 to have sill bash sorted and painted, whole front end painted, rear n/s panel painted and black plastic bottom section colour coded. When I took the lights along the painter was moaning about how big a job it was - He had removed the front arch liners, bumper, fog lights, headlight washers, grill and rear o/s door to get into everything. Agreed price though! and his work is good - He painted the side of my brothers spider (same colour) a couple of months back. I was quoted £1000 by another body shop nearby for same work!

Re: Headlamp and foglamp fitting

500 quid sounds like a great deal! You get all the bargains down in the central belt....
