Reasurance or What's she worth?

My 2000 166 2.0TS with 87,000 mile on the clock. full leathers. no sat nav or cd. What's it worth?

Recent engine problem which will require replacing on of the cylinder valves. Main dealer quote in excess of €1000 with a main dealer mechanic prepared to do the work for €500 - 600 as a nixer.

I've just had the sump replaced after cracking it off a speed ramp (cost of €625, put managed to get local authority to pay up for poor construction and warning signs) and I'm getting nervous of possible costs down the line.

My good wife reckons that it's time to sell but I don't know if I can or want to. I've had the 166 for 9 months now and the driving experience has been great.

Had a quick look around and quite frankly, nothing get's me remotely excited. Any thoughts out there?

Yeah, change the wife for a more supportive one ,

You have hit the nail on the head about whats to replace it thought, better to spend the money getting her put right than spending more money to change.........only to be unhappy with the car you end up with.

very true - always better the devil you know....and also a 2000 twinnie will be worth depressingly little...even more so if the engine is no running!

Get it fixed and enjoy for another couple of years....ignore women as they are always obssesed by newer cars and seem to get paranoid that any car over 3 years old is about to explode

Get the car fixed! Or buy a 3.0 GTV! I know what you mean about other cars not being as good! Only cars like the BMW m6 or the new XKR turn me on now! Although i do have a very large soft spot for for the 3.0 GTV - every time i see one!
