standing 1/4 mile

just got back from Forza Auto Italia at santa pod, soooo much fun on the strip, managed a 15.976secs which is ok for a standard car with a blowing exhaust, in 7 runs i beat a modified Mk1 punto, a Mk2 punto hgt, and a 156 2.0L, got my arse kicked by a supercharged autodelta GT, a thema, 2 fiat coupe's(who were there in force)

not many Ferrari's there, a few Lambos, 2 panteras who were very quick(low 12's), a very fast punto consistently running low 13's and quite a lot of 147GTA's.

Re: standing 1/4 mile

there were a few smelly clutches, not mine, ah the joys of sportronic didnt have to worry about bad gear changes, the first run of the day was a blue punto against a ferrari 360, the punto won!!!! the guy in the ferrari couldnt drive, fluffed every gear change, never ran again, the punto proved to be very quick that was the one doing low 13's all day.

there were a couple of nice cars, a Masser Quatroporte, Diablo, 456GT, 360 spider, only the masser ran and stonked all over its opponants, but mostly fiats and to be honest they were a bit chavvy, but fast with it.

not the best event ive been to but the strip was fun

Re: standing 1/4 mile

Interested to know what traction was like off the line. The last time I ran there you couldn't get a decent start as the track was soooo slippy and shiny.

Re: standing 1/4 mile

loads of grip, they did a lot of spraying of some very sticky somethingorother, you could actually hear your tyres sticking to it as you came into stage, even with the windows up, with no TC i could just floor the throttle and i got away very well. i will be washing my car tomorrow incase i threw any of it up onto my bodywork though!!!!

Ah, they weren't spraying the snot all over when I last ran.

Did you notice a red Seicento turbo posting some decent times?

Re: standing 1/4 mile

15secs not bad, although i did think they would be much faster, how fast did you get! Car 0-100 in 15secs is fast so just wondering where the 166 stands!

Re: standing 1/4 mile

166 3.0 L sportronic fastest times

1/8 ET 10.514
1/8 mph 71.64
1/4 ET 15.976
1/4 mph 90.32 in 3rd gear
these times were done in tiptronic mode but letting the car change gear, every other run was done in sport auto and werent much slower, one was only about 2 tenths slower
i think the supercharged GT did a 14.6 at 95mph

id love to compare my sportronic against a manual 3.0L be very interesting, the manual is quicker to 60 but in the sportronic you dont have to worry about changing gear quickly and smoothly

I'd only be 0.2 seconds behind you in the Cinquecento

Not Happy Re: standing 1/4 mile

Hi there Jabberwocky, great day wasn't it? I was in the grey GT which was drawn against you on a couple of runs. Mine isn't supercharged though - finances didn't run to it. I merely added a Novitec exhaust and Angel Tuning ECU remap (plus some sneaky Redex Power Booster tipped in the tank on the way down) so the car's good for approx. 260-270 BHP on a good day.

That transpired to a best 1/4 of 14.6 at 96mph - put into perspective by Autodelta's 3.2 super at approx. 13-something and 105mph. Oh well.......

Re: standing 1/4 mile

Actually Jabberwocky, I've got a short clip of your car on the strip (shot by my son who was unceremonially ousted from the passenger-seat of my car by a zealous marshall as I approached on the first run!). It's quite a few MB but if you like, I'll figure-out a way of posting it somewhere so you can keep it for posterity? Let me know.......
