The side lights on my 166 have come on automatically a couple of times. This has occured a few minutes after I have switched off the engine (with the light switch in off position) and locked the car. I did not notice this the first time so the lights were on all night so the battery was completely drained.
It is the side lights that come on and not the parking lights. As far as I know it should be impossible to have the side lights on when the ignition key is removed.
Curiously, I have been leaving the light switch in the side light position so that they are turned off when I turn off the ignition key and this seems to stop them coming on automatically later.
Is this just another Alfa electrical fault or is there something specific going on here?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Chris
Hi, I had a similar prob with my first 166, like you it drained the battery, and knackered the alarm, whuch was replaced under warranty. Turned out to be the ligth switch.
Hi Chris,
I have the same problem but only in winter or damp/cold conditions. Not sure why but like you I leave the switch in the side light position overnight in winter. Yep the 166 is like the wife, plenty of niggles but love her to death!
If anyone knows of a quick fix plse let me know.
