Re: posting fuel consumtion

50 miles to the gallon!! Holy smoke, wish I got that!

More like 25 for me - I almost weep tears if I manage to get the "since" trip to go over 30 to the gallon

I wouldn't dare to challenge the MSCalculator, but I thought that:
- 1 mile equals 1.6 km
- 1 gallon equals 3.8 liters

So: 17.8 [km/l] = 17.8 / 1.6 [mi/l] = 11.13 [mi/l] = 11.13 * 3.8 [mi/gln] = 42.28 [mi/gln].

Or did I miss something?

BTW I presume it's a diesel?

Oh, and mine does 21.6 mi/gln (9.1 km/l) (2.5V6).

Re: posting fuel consumtion

Uk gallon is 4.54 litres.

I get about 20mpg and I consider myself lucky. I must admit as I start to do more and more miles I have to consider getting something more sensible mpg-wise. It would have to be something like a 4.2 Audi V8 Tdi twin turbo or something though and hell I can't afford that.

Just have to live with it until I win the lottery

Okay, that's where I went wrong. Sorry 'bout that. In that case, my Alfa does almost 26 mi/gln.

Re: posting fuel consumtion

17.8 km/l is not surprising in the diesel. I made 20+ km/l at speeds of around 80-85 km/t average in Switzlerand in February.
However when I push it to 130-140 km/t it drops to 13 km/l.

My average on 22.500 km is 13.1 km/l, average speed I cannot remember, but I normally drive around 160 km/t on long stretches.

I will take a new measurement in Switzerland next weekend.

Re: posting fuel consumption

i live very near to Switzerland

respecting the traffic rules in CH i can make more than 20 km/l.
120 highway and sometimes in the big cities like Lucern 80 km/h.

Be very careful with the speed traps

here the list on the highways

33 does 24mpg urban - 38 on a run,
164 does 17mpg - 30 on a run
156 does 25mpg urban, but I haven't a set of figures for a good run yet.
